“Storylines Crossing” is the newest release of “Starkland Records”. Album was recorded by new contemporary music ensemble “NakedEye Ensemble”. “Storylines Crossing” is a set of 6 compositions, which were written by 6 different composers or arranged by ensemble musicians. It’s the compositions of Rusty Banks, Richard Belcastro, Zack Browning, Jonathan Russell, Frederic Rzewski and Randall Woolf. Each composer has its own and original composing style and manner. The most part of the compositions is based on polyphonic musical pattern and are dedicated for electro-acoustic music ensemble. Composers tries out new ways of playing – that makes an effort to extraction of strange sounds and weird timbres. Jonathan Russel “Sextet” has vivacious and passionate mood. Expressive playing manner, simple structure of melodies, dynamic rhythms, free form are the main elements of this composition. Composer constructs the musical pattern by using various melodic and rhythmic intonations and repeating them one after each other. Light, vivid, bright and expressive melodies gently fit together with colorful harmony, brilliant and innovative instrumentation, special effects, specific ways of playing and musical experiments. Zack Browning “Decade of The Dragon” highly differs from the first one. It’s formed by the synthesis between jazz and rock music styles. The music is based on bright and loud guitar riffs, quadratic form, has enough space for free improvisation and musical experiments. Composer masterfully blends all these elements together in one place. The most effective elements of this composition are the melodies – it’s filled with dynamic turns, vivid and light changes, expressive and virtuosic solos, passages, hard core beats and other similar rock music elements. This composition also has some relations with experimental music, academic avant-garde and avant-garde jazz, but it has a strong influenze of various rock styles. It has passionate, loud, vibrant and energetic sound. Richard Belcastro “Smoke n’Wid” also has many relations of rock styles, but the composer pays more attention to sound experiments, free improvisation and snthesizing various jazz styles all together. The music is based on subtle and silent guitar solos, energetic, bright, vivid and moody reeds solos, dynamic and constantly changing rhythmic, sharp harmony and free form. Rusty Banks “Surface Tensions” are different from the other compositions – it’s formed by synthesis between experimental, electro-acoustic, academic avant-garde and contemporary academical music styles. The composer is dedicated to create bright, fresh and evocative sound. His compositions has two independent sections – very solid, loud and dynamic melodic and strong rhythmic base. The music is filled with various moods, characters, eclectic combinations and special effects, which are masterfully blended in one place. That finally makes an effort to remarkable, interesting and evocative sound. Randal Woolf “Punching The Clock” has interesting sound, modern orchestration and rich musical pattern. The musical language is especially modern, wide and rich – it’s filled with special effects of electronics, passionate, vivid and expressive acoustic instruments solos, energetic passages, rapid roulades, effective glissando, arpeggio, pizzicato and other similar playing techniques bring original and effective sound to this album. Flamingo – “LOUD” (Relative Pitch Records, 2018)

“LOUD” was released by “Relative Pitch Records” on May. The album was recorded by Chris Heenan (contrabass clarinet), Adam Pultz Melbye (double bass) and Christian Windfeld (snare drum and objects). All three musicians are interesting and creative jazz masters and improvisers. Their improvising style is based on original playing manner, inventive musical decisions, modern instrumentation and rich musical language. The music is totally based on avant-harde jazz, but also has some relations with bebop, post bop, neobop and other modern jazz styles. The strong intonations of experimental, contemporary academical, ambient, concrete and spectral music also are heard very much in their improvisations. Despite of huge and colorful range of various playing manners and styles, the basic of this album is sound experiments and free improvisation. Musicians are trying out new ways of playing, original playing manners and fusing together various elements of musical language. They create interesting and original sound.

“Head Under Water” is the newest release of “FMR Records”. The album was recorded by Robert Burke (tenor and soprano saxopones), Tony Malaby (tenor and soprano saxophone) and Mark Helias (acoustic bass). These three musicians have interesting and original playing style – it has expressive and passionate playing manner, unique sound and rich musical language. All three jazz masters are famous in avant-garde jazz scene for many years now – they also had been playing and improvising with many other famous and great improvisers. Album was recorded by a “Barker Trio” – it’s Michael Foster (tenor & soprano saxophone & electronics), Tim Dahl (electric bass) and Andrew Barker (drums, synthesizer, percussion). The music the “Barker Trio” is based on avant-garde jazz and modern jazz fusion. The eclectic and organic combinations of expressive rhythms, free and spontaneous solos, fascinating musical experiments, original and inventive musical decisions, turbulent improvisations or gorgeous solos – all these elements naturally and organically fit together. The music is made spontaneously – all three musicians are improvising free, colorfully and expressively for the most of the time. They are open for new ideas, fresh sounds, evocative and interesting musical decisions – that makes an effort to original and bright sound of this trio improvisations. Both musicians have their own and original playing style. It’s formed by different jazz styles – avant-garde, experimental, free jazz and various intonations of bebop, post bop and hard bop contain the main part of these improvisations. Musicians like to ekperiment in all ways of musical language – that’s especially hears in instrumentation, form and improvisation section. “A” TRIO & AMM – “AAMM” (Al Maslakch, 2018)

“AAMM” is one of the newest release of “Al Maslakch” records. Album was recorded by “A” trio and “AMM” – it’s Mazen Kerbaj (trumpet), Sharif Sehnaoui (acoustic guitar), Raed Yassin (double bass), John Tilbury (piano) and Eddie Prevost (percussion). The music of two ensembles is different and contrasting with each other. The duo of Eddie Prevost and John Tilbury likes noisy, brave and evocative musical experiments. Their music is based on American avant-garde jazz traditions, basic elements of experimental jazz and free improvisation. It also has an influenze of other jazz styles – bebop, post bop, hard bop and other modern jazz styles. Both musicians have expressive and passionate playing manner – they are improvising inventively and colorfully. Music is filled with vivacious and remarkable soloss, original and bright sounds, inventive and colorful instrumentation and wide range of unusual timbres. The musicians of “A” trio have original and unqiue sound and playing style. Musicians fuse various music rhythms, intonations and other elements of musical language in one place.
