“The Dogs of Nile” is a new release out now on “Weekertoft”. Album was recorded by Evan Parker (soprano saxophone) and Paul G. Smyth (piano). There’s no need to introduce these two great figures of avant-garde jazz – musicians are famous on international avant-garde jazz scene. They’re making the collaborations with other great jazz improvisers. All the music is based on avant-garde and experimental jazz. Free improvisation is used almost everywhere. The musicians are full of innovative ideas, brave and ambitious decisions and inspiring ways of improvising. The roots of 1960’s avant-garde jazz, the most famous pieces of avant-garde jazz legends are mixed up with innovative, bright and original ideas, unique sound and specific playing style. The newest tendencies of avant-garde jazz are mixed up with traditions in original and bright way. Musicians had been improvising together in various combos – this album is a great opportunity to hear them out as a duo.

“The Dogs of Nile” is filled with evocative ideas, new playing techniques and bright improvising style. The compositions are based on expressive, thrilling and wild free improvisations. Rich, enchanted and multi-layed musical pattern is created by mixing up dozens of colors, rhythms, sounds, scales, timbres, expressions and chords. Musicians manage to make a colorful, universal and expressive musical language. The ideas of avant-garde jazz are mixed with the newest tendencies of experimental jazz. Special effects, exotic tunes, rare instrumental decisions, experimental ways of playing are used together with traditional and very well-known playing techniques. That makes an effort to colorful, modern and suggestive instrumentation. The music is bright, original and eclectic – it’s changing all the time. Gorgeous and light, expressive and moving, playful and gentle, joyful and dramatic can turn out to depressive, sarcastic, weird, frantic, tremendous, passionate, thrilling or peaceful and silent pieces. Musicians are using huge range of expressions and sounds to express numerous of moods. Both musicians form all sections of musical pattern – they’re playing attractive, bright and expressive melodies, keeping strong and solid bass line and dynamic and trendy rhythmic section. Evan Parker’s soprano saxophone is vital, tremendous and expressive.
