The main and the most important basic of the compositions is free improvisation. Each musician is improvising differently from the others – their melodies are individual and separated from each other. Each improvisation has its own musical language, different expressions, rhythms, dynamics and other musical language elements. There are many stylistic waves and turns in these improvisations. Though the compositions are based on the basics of avant-garde jazz and free improvisations, it also has plenty of illusions and relations with other music styles. Spectral, concrete, experimental music and other contemporary academical music styles, academic avant-garde are gently mixed together with free, creative and experimental jazz. The intonations of bebop, post bop and hard bop also heard in this album – it’s mixed together with cool, some elements, which are similar to modal jazz, and other modern jazz styles. This wide range of different and contrasting music styles is heard here. Musicians masterfully switch from the one mood to the other – sometimes their music is eclectic, difficult, aggressive and sharp, sometimes – light, expressive, joyful and vivacious. The musical language of both compositions is similar – both compositions are based on wide range of music styles, expressions, rhythms and other elements, which form gorgeous and effective sound. Cracking trumpet solos, dark and deep trombone melodies are highly contrasting with each other – warm, expressive and rapid trumpet is filled with virtuosic solos, extremely rapid passages, sharp, turbulent and dramatic blow outs, sparkling and spontaneous improvisations. All these elements are joined together in organic and passionate way. Trombone is more slow than trumpet, it has dark, bright, clear and vibrant solos and gently fits together with tuba melodies. Tuba keeps solid and static rhythmic basic for the most of the time. Deep, calm, vibrant and dark tunes are based on repetitive rhythmic and short melodic phrases, which are used silmunateously. Brass section bring energy, expression and live to the compositions – it makes them sound even more interesting and effective. String section is based on free improvisation, but also has many relations with academical music. Viola melodies bring unusual and specific sound – its subtle and calm solos are filled with modern instrumentation decisions and new ways of playing. Improvser tries out to show all technical abilities of this instrument and even expand it by using specific and experimental ways of playing. Cello and double bass melodies gently fit together with viola and other instruments – it also has contrasting, dynamic and unpredictable sound. Musicians are using huge range of extended playing techniques, all kinds of rhythms, unusual sounds and timbres to create interesting, moody and touching sound. The music of this album is based on avant-garde jazz and free improvisation – it has the elements of academical music, which are heard the most brightly and clearly in instrumentation and musical language section.
