Luís Vicente|Yedo Gibson|Vasco Trilla – “L3” (Multikulti, 2018)

“L3″ is the newest release of ‘Multikulti Project”. Album was recorded by trio “L3” – it’s Luís Vicente (trumpet), Yedo Gibson (soprano, tenor saxophones) and Vasco Trilla (drums, percussion). Three musicians have original and interesting playing style. Their music is filled with innovative, fascinating and interesting musical experiments. Various unusual sounds, strange timbres, special effects and weird noises are made by using dozens of different playing techniques, own and experimental ways of playing and expressions. Musicians are exploring the abilities of traditional sound and acoustic instruments – they are trying out new ways of playing and making colorful and inventive instrumentation decisions. Their music is played with passion and expression – huge range of extended playing techniques, modern and splendid instrumentation decisions, forms, dynamic and all kinds of rhythms contain the main part of musical pattern. Musicians are improvising creatively and dynamically – their music is expressive, based on sudden changes, eclectic combinations, avant-garde and experimental jazz and free improvisation.

“L3” has expressive and passionate sound. The music is based on free and dynamic musical pattern, open form and innovative musical experiments. The musicians are trying out new ways of playing – numerous of different playing techniques are used together silmunateously. That’s how the contrasting and dynamic sound is created. Expressive, contrasting and colorful episodes are gently fused together in one place. All music is based on abstract musical pattern – short and separate melodic elements are illustrated by expressive and dynamic rhythmic and gorgeous background. The compositions don’t have bright and memorable melodies – everything is mixed together in one place with rhythms, timbres, dynamics, expressions and other musical language elements. Luis Vincente trumpet melodies are very bright and colorful. Short melodic elements are especially expressive and intensive. It’s filled with marvelous solos, passionate passages, intensive and turbulent blow outs, and other similar elements, which create an effective and innovative sound. Trumpeter tries out new ways of playing, use very colorful, modern and interesting instrumentation. Experimental and own ways of playing contain the main part of the instrumentation and are mixed together with usual playing techniques. Improviser pays the highest attention to search of unusual and strange sounds and tunes – he creates a wide range of colorful and strange timbres. Each of them bring new color and sound to the compositions. Yedo Gibson saxophones melodies also are based on musical experiments, special effects and search of unusual timbres. It has abstract musical pattern which is formed by spontaneous and effective solos, wide range of extended playing techniques and rich facture. Marvelous solos, weird and vibrant sounds, unusual timbres, expressive and passionate melodies, spontaneous musical decisions… – these and many other similar elements contain the main part of Yedo Gibson improvisations. His improvisations has dynamci and passionate mood, are filled with unpredictable and sudden stylistic changes and surprises. Vasco Trilla drums and percussion section is especially energetic and intense. All kinds of different rhythms are used here. Expressive, dynamic and rapid bebop, post bop, hard bop and other modern jazz styles basic rhythmic forms are fused together with static and calm cool and traditional jazz rhythms and dramatic, turbulent, harsh and loud free improvisations. Eclectic combinations, wide range of percussion instruments help the drummer to create expressive, colorful and vivid background and strong rhtyhmic section. This music has difficult and abstract musical pattern, are especially energetic, vivid, bright and passionate. Each musician is improvising creatively and vivaciously – all together they create remarkable and innovative sound.
